1. I like this photo because of the contrasting colors of the black buildings/city line and the vibrant red skyline. In this photo, the photographer emphasizes the background and foreground of the picture, and expresses the concept of space.

2. I enjoy this photo a lot because of the interesting angle, the centered subject expressing symmetry, and the depth of field concept; I like the blurred effect in the background.

3. I love this picture because of the leading line the stone bench creates, the contrast of the bright, vibrant colors of the flowers in the foreground and the more neutral, earth tones of the background. This picture also shows the concept of depth of field and slightly the concept of rule of thirds.

4. This photo is composed well because it fills the frame and expresses symmetry. I really like the bright scarlet color of the owl's eyes in this photo.

5. I think this picture is composed well because it illustrates the rule of thirds, and has an interesting take on the depth of field with a blurred foreground and a clear background.

8/31/2011: Photo Evaluations

Photo #1 (an assembly of some kind): The photographer uses balance and symmetry to some degree because they chose to place the building in the middle of the picture with the roughly the same amount of protestors on each side, and I'd say they used contrast as well because of the difference in the earth tones of the background and the more bright, vivid colors of the foreground. This picture also demonstrates the concept of space.
Photo #2 (ladies on a bike): The photographer used depth of field, pattern (the horsemen in the background), and emphasis with the two ladies in the foreground.
Photo #3 (up-close of some dude): The photographer used emphasis obviously with the extreme close-up of this guy's face, and some balance and symmetry with a pretty evenly angled photo of his face.
Photo #4 (classroom with blue desks): The photographer used an interesting angle to take the photograph, contrast in the darkness of the room and the brightness of the desks, and a pattern to some degree of the bright blue desks.
